Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett declared that he was planning to donate over 80 percent of his wealth to charities. He increased that amount to 99.9% in 2020. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which was established by Bill Gates and Melinda (the Microsoft founder) was the principal beneficiary. This foundation focused on education and global health. Bill and Buffett had been close friends since the 90s. The other organizations receiving donations included those run by Buffett's children and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named for his wife who passed away, which is focused on women's rights to reproductive health and also funded college scholarship programs. In 2010 Buffett as well as Gates Gateses came up with the Giving Pledge, an invitation to other wealthy individuals to give the bulk of their fortunes to charities.
